It happened to me. Suddenly, the head of my penis became inflamed, flaky, the skin was peeling off, and it was very itchy and painful. I didn’t know what to do, and I definitely didn’t want to go under the knife.

Here’s some official information on what balanitis is:

“Balanitis is pain and inflammation (swelling and irritation) of the glans (head) of the penis, which happens most often in uncircumcised males. Circumcision is a procedure that removes the foreskin from the head of the penis. Yeast infections typically cause balanitis.”

So your options are usually creams or circumcision. But I read many complaints from people who tried prescription creams and said they didn’t help.

Personally, I’m all about natural cures with no side effects.

I had this balanitis for about two months. It’s an infection that just wouldn’t go away. The advice I read said to always dry the area after showers, never use soap—just clean water. But here’s the protocol that finally helped me get it under control.

It was bad. I had a white circle on the head of my penis, and the infection had gone under the skin. There was even a small hole in the middle of the circle. I was scared.

I didn’t want to take drugs or use prescription creams. I’m a natural remedy guy. Very important: You have to catch it early. If you wait too long, it can go under the skin, and you’ll start to see white discoloration patches. That’s what happened to me—I didn’t know what to do.

At first, I tried rubbing hydrogen peroxide on it. It helped a bit and took away some of the pain, but not all of it. It didn’t seem to fully kill the bacteria or fungus—whatever was causing it.

I was desperate. I had read Reddit posts from guys who had suffered for years with this—even while using steroid creams, antifungal creams, everything.

I was seriously freaking out. The infection was under the skin, and there was a visible hole. I almost went to the doctor. Then I read about a guy from the Balkans whose doctor had prescribed a surgical iodine wash. I tried to find it online but couldn’t.

So I googled the ingredients. Turns out, the main ingredient in surgical disinfectant wash is iodine—and I already had a bottle of povidone-iodine at home (the black stuff). I put a few drops directly on the head of my penis—and for the first time in two months, I felt real relief. No more pain.

Hydrogen peroxide reduced the pain, but it never got rid of it completely. Povidone-iodine was different. At first, I diluted it heavily, and the pain went away—but it still didn’t fully kill the infection. So then I started applying a few direct drops of the iodine to the head and gently closed the foreskin over it.

That was it. The pain was gone.

But since the infection had already gone under the skin, I knew I had to keep at it. I now apply iodine every 2–3 days. The white patch (discoloration) was still there, probably from the infection under the skin, so I added tea tree oil to my routine.

Same process: rub a few drops of tea tree oil on the penis. It has a soothing effect.

So that’s my protocol: repeat every few days, use both iodine and tea tree oil. No more pain, no more smell.

I remember when I was dating a lot, my penis started to smell, and it was hard to wash. Women complained, and I could smell it too. I must have picked up some bacteria from one of the women I was with.

Thank God this routine helped. You don’t even have to worry about drying the head perfectly or avoiding regular soap anymore. Just use these two ingredients.

Let me know in the comments if it helped you.

UPDATE NEW PROTOCOL THAT SEALS THE DEAL

So start with povidone, to kill all the bugs. And also you can try tea tree oil whenever you want to.

But here is important step that will seal the deal. Retract skin when you pee….and splash water on your penis head after each urination. THen dab the head with tovel, so it is dry…. this did it.

I had this condition for 6 months…but this last step of drying it with towel is most important. Seems to me moisture creates this environment for bacteria or fungi, whatever it is.

So now I dont use povidone anymore…and use tea tree oil before bed, just as a precation, even though it is not needed.

So guys, use natural stuff like I did. And there is no more smell. Before girls were complaining my head stinks and i need to go clean under shower like scrub the head etc…because it stank…now there is no more smegma….and dont use any soap or shampoo in your head anymore

This is my spooky rife 2 story experience. Years ago I came across an article about zappers and how they heal your body.

The inventor of the zapper was Hulda Clark. Hulda Clark created this small machine that you can carry around and was powered by a 9V battery.

People claimed all kinds of benefits from the zappers. I tried it approximately two years ago and I felt better. But the zapper was really limited.

It had only three frequencies that you can use to target your body.

I was researching further. I came across a term called rifing. The inventor or rifing was a guy called Royal Rife.

He invented this amazing microscope with which he could observe all the viruses, bacteria, fungi etc. under extremely high magnification.

They claim that people destroyed his microscope and we were not able to create something stronger to observe all these small creatures today.

So that is the whole dilemma that his enemies destroyed his microscope so he was not able to develop his frequency healing further.

Apparently, pharmaceutical companies were afraid of a theory like that would be widely used all over the world. Maybe that was true or not, who knows.

By observing all the small creatures under the microscope he was able to find out which frequencies kill specific bacteria, viruses, fungi etc.

But without a microscope, his theory would just die.

At least that is what his enemies thought. He created this list of thousands of frequencies before he died where he noted which frequency kills which bacteria, virus etc.

That is how the rifing started. The rife machines today are pretty expensive.

We’re talking about the machines where you are able to target your body with a specific frequency. But like I said these rife machines are really expensive.

Spooky rife 2 experience

After buying zapper and reading about Royal Rife I found out about the spooky rife machine. It was affordable and I bought it.

So here is the video I just made where to show you how spooky rife 2 machine works and how I use it.

Here is another interesting remedy that I have been reading about a lot in the few last months. I am publishing this article now.

When a good idea comes along, particularly in the health and wellbeing field, people often pick up on its essence rather than its detail.

Take the “five a day” edict, for example. Everyone knows that it means you should eat five portions of fruit and veg a day, but most of us get a bit hazy on the detail. If you have a huge portion, does it count as two? (No.) And potatoes are a vegetable, aren’t they, so do they count? (Again, no.)

It’s even more confusing when you take a newer idea like the benefits of Manuka honey, which has become a much-hyped superfood. But what does it do, exactly?

A recent survey of people who bought the stuff showed that 58 per cent of them believed Manuka honey to be better than ordinary honey, but they didn’t know why. In addition, 70 per cent of them didn’t know what the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) number on the front of the pots meant.

Manuka honey has long had a reputation as a “healing” honey and, because it comes from bees that have been busy pollinating the Manuka trees that grow almost exclusively in the East Cape region of New Zealand, it has rarity value. This makes it expensive.

Honey has long been seen as one of health’s “superfoods” (I use the inverted commas as no food is “super” in isolation), offering a number of benefits. Local honey containing local pollen can help reduce the symptoms of hay fever.

Most honeys contain a naturally occurring active agent, which is thought to support good health but is easily destroyed when exposed to heat and light. Manuka honey contains an extra, naturally occurring active ingredient, which makes it distinct from other honeys. This additional component is stable and doesn’t lose its potency when exposed to heat, light or dilution. Its special quality is known as UMF and the higher the UMF, the more potent the honey and its powers (aficionados reckon that you need a UMF of 10 or higher for the honey to be properly effective). It has antiviral and antibacterial actions, which is a good excuse for scoffing the stuff neat at the first sign of a cold or sore throat.

Most people who buy Manuka honey simply put it on their toast or in their tea, but where it really comes into its own is in treating wounds. In New Zealand, it has long been used in this way and studied extensively. Now, the NHS is doing the same.

According to doctors, Manuka honey’s high sugar content creates a waterless environment in which the bacteria that are infecting a wound are unable to survive. Also, thanks to the presence of an enzyme called glucose oxidase, it is acidic, which apparently adds to its unique antibacterial properties.

It seems a shame to confine such a wonder substance to the boring business of healing wounds – hence the proliferation of skincare products containing Manuka honey. Will they really help heal your skin and enhance natural cell renewal better than their non-UMF-bearing competitors? It’s a sweet idea, but one that you might have to take with a pinch of salt.

I have heard a lot about this guy from a small town in Brazil, where he has healed many people from serious diseases like cancer, tumours, paralysis, spine, heart problems… He uses mediums and does visible and invisible operations while being in a state of trance. This guy I think is a real deal. No scam. A real healer! There are so many testimonials all over internet. Even Oprah herself vouched for this guy.

Maybe some day I will go visit him.

Here is more info about John Of God Johnofgodlove.com

From an original interview by Robert Pellegrino-Estrich

They come in their thousands. The sick, the lame, the ‘incurable’ and the medically discarded, to a small town in central Brazil. They endure long international flights and for some long bus trips to Abadiania, high on the plateaux of Central Brazil. They come to be cured by the miracle healer, Joao Teixeira de Faria … the man they call John of God.

He will scrape away cataracts and eye tumors with a knife, remove Breast Cancer s with a small incision and cause the crippled to walk with just the touch of his hand. In a meditation room, a ceiling-high stack of discarded crutches, wheelchairs and braces pays silent testimony to his success. He is acclaimed as the greatest healer of the past 2,000 years.

Buses arrive throughout the night. At 5 am it is cool and still. A heavy mist blankets the town of Abadiania much of which has grown to cater for the thousands who pilgrimage here. People sit outside the simple lodging houses talking softly… waiting. Some sleep in cars or buses or simply stand around waiting for the sunrise. The lodging houses provide free coffee for the weary travelers who spill from newly arrived buses all through the night. Dawn will bring new hope of a life without pain or illness.

The hospital-style center opens at 6 am. The sick collect their queuing numbers as cameramen prepare their equipment for the filming of the day’s activity. In an unmarked room Joao rests in preparation. Rita, a dentist and volunteer aid, who says she was healed by Joao of an incurable disease, explains that he can call on more than 34 doctor entitles who use him as a vessel to perform the amazing surgery and healing. Joao is an unconscious medium, she explains, who does not remember anything once he is incorporated by entity. The principal entity is Dom Inacio, after whom the centre is named – Casa De Dom Inacio.

My initial interview with Joao is in the unmarked room at the rear of the centre. He lies on a couch in the dimly lit, sparsely furnished room. On the wall above his head hang pictures of his principal entities. On the adjacent wall hang a dozen Honorary Degrees, Certificates of Appreciation and Civil Awards bestowed upon him by grateful countries and VIPS, among them a plaque bearing a Medal of Honour from the President of Peru in gratitude for healing his son. Joao greets us with an outstretched hand from the couch where he is resting. We do not stay long. He has another busy day ahead. The people are lining up – over 600 already and it is only 7.30am. Soon he will say a simple prayer and incorporate the entity. Time enough for us to inspect the premises before the healings begin.

The healing centre, affectionately known as The House, is simple, efficient and designed to cater for large numbers of people. The main hall is open at one end leading out to a covered walkway, toilets and a rose garden. This is the main treatment area where most of the visible operations are performed on patients where they stand. A lilting song heralds his entry. Followed by assistants carrying trays of surgical instruments, he moves slowly in trance. Anaesthesia and sterilisation are provided invisibly by the entities, a fact that astounds medical doctors who come to observe him. In 35 years there has never been a single case of septicaemia in the house.

During the first morning 1 saw operations performed that defied my logic. Touching the head of a woman who had a large tumour in her stomach, he lifted her shirt to reveal a freshly stitched four-inch incision. Two hours later she seemed well, in high spirits and happy to show me her incision. ‘See,’ she said, ‘the tumour is gone, and I’m going home to cook dinner!’

Some of the operations are unorthodox in the extreme. With a pair of long nosed forceps and a cotton swab he operates through the nose, twisting the forceps high in the sinus cavity. I am told that he can perform 28 different operations throughout the body with this technique. While gruesome for the viewers, many feel only a mild unpleasantness whilst others
experience considerable discomfort. One woman said that the sensation was so good she was sorry Joao had not done the other one. One man l interviewed declared he had six broken bones in his feet repaired by this method. A similarly illogical operation is performed by scraping the eyeball with a kitchen knife, a procedure absolutely impossible by any medical doctor. Apart from the removal of eye tumours and cataracts, he also operates elsewhere in the body by scraping the eye. Invited to watch at close range, I saw a small blue light emanate from the tip of the knife. This light strobed deep into the iris and seemed to break up into multiple white fingers. At no time was there an anaesthetic or aseptic used in any operation. Incisions produce virtually no bleeding, a fact which astounds doctors and scientists alike.

I was warned by a kindly assistant to watch for an amazing phenomenon: ‘simultaneous invisible operations’ which occur in the crowd as he operates. Even so, 1 was not prepared for the frequency and, simplicity of this remarkable occurrence. People began dropping like flies all around me. ‘Get that one!’ Joao said as he paused from a delicate eye operation and pointed into the crowd. ‘There is another over there. Take them to the recovery room,’ he said with firm compassion. These were truly miraculous healings.

1 watched in amazement as a man, confined to a wheelchair for 50 years, was told to stand and walk after a simple touch of his legs. The grateful man burst into tears as assistants walked him away and the wheelchair was removed to become part of the static display in the meditation room. l pulled me away to check on patients in the recovery room.

Fitted with two rows of clean white beds, the recovery room smelled clean and sterile; a spiritual air, not the chemical smell of a hospital. I sought out some of the ‘simultaneous operations’ to check their post operative condition. Hopeless cancer cases, gallstones, hernia, cataracts, chronic arthritis, leukemia, heart problems, and many undiagnosed illnesses. All were drowsy but calm and content. Everyone I spoke to had been operated on; successfully, they assured me. One man, who had not been able to sit or bend and previously required assistance to lie down, had received a small incision between his shoulders. Immediately he could bend, squat and sit. He was so happy tears rolled down his big square cheeks as he described his amazing cure.

The house contains three other major rooms. One is a meditation room where 30 or more mediums, all dressed in white, sit in deep meditation. This, they tell me, generates a strong healing current. Next door, in the main interview room, sit another 60 or more volunteer mediums. The long line of ailing pilgrims walks through the center of this room to receive their cures or prescriptions from the medium Joao, who is in entity. Following the visible operations, he sits in a large chair as the people file past. The entity scans each person and ‘sees’ their problem. For many, he will write a script for herbs in a strange spirit shorthand. Limping, on crutches or in wheelchairs, the line seems unending. Some who need operations are directed to wait in an adjoining room where major surgery or prolonged treatments take place. As he speaks, his hand, seemingly disconnected from the man himself, flashes across a notepad. Another script, another instruction and the line move on. An engineer who first brought his daughter to the house seeking a cure for a painful leg condition, tells me the medium will stay until all have been treated, sometimes late into the evening.

Although a successful businessman in his private life, Joao Teixeira is a simple man of humble origins who now devotes three days every week to healing his fellow human beings, without payment of any kind. A heavy-set man with a slight bodily slump, he exudes deep compassion and remarkable inner strength. He speaks with an economy of words but his deep voice commands attention.

Born into an impoverished family, he is intimately familiar with hunger, deprivation and the humility of poverty. As revealed in his biography The Miracle Man, he discovered his extraordinary gift at age 16 when a female vision appeared to him and told him to go to a nearby spiritual church. Greeted by a senior member when he arrived, he does not remember the next few hours but on awakening he was told that he had performed miraculous operations. He has continued healing for 38 years despite relentless persecution. For much of his youthful life he was forced to live as a wanderer, traveling from city to city healing the sick and living from their donations of food. The police harassed him constantly with beatings and incarceration. Despite his compassion and unselfish dedication to the thousands of sick who seek his help, he is still ridiculed by his enemies. Amazingly, he treats many of his persecutors – doctors and police – with their own incurable diseases. Clergymen, rabbis and nuns from all over the world write testimonies to his miraculous cures.

The poor and the famous are equally welcome. The famous include actress Shirley Maclaine who was told she could never dance again until Joao cured her stricken legs caused by a tumour in her stomach. Thousands of written testimonies are filed in the office along with piles of newspaper clippings and personal letters of gratitude. It is estimated he has cured more than 15 million people in his 38 years of healing. Reports by scientists from all over the world support claims of miraculous healings of every malady known and unknown, including incurable cancers, lupus disease and 139 cases (at the time of writing) of AIDS. Many come with their white coats of scepticism, but all leave totally convinced that he is a genuine paranormal phenomenon of medicine.

The sick do not pay for treatment. If herbs are prescribed they pay only a few dollars to cover the cost of production. They will be fed at lunchtime with a simple wholesome soup, bread and herb tea, for which there is no charge. The week before I arrived he treated and fed over 15,000 people in three days! He and his volunteer staff worked non-stop up to 14 hours each day. It is said that he treats and operates on more people for major maladies in a single week than the largest western hospital would treat in a month.

Like other renowned healers before him – Edgar Cayce , Ze Arigo and Britain’s Harry Edwards, his miraculous cures provide hope for the terminally ill who have exhausted all avenues of modem medicine. Joao is the living proof of spirit existence that even the sceptics cannot refute.

A trip to this sanctuary is a spiritually uplifting experience even for the hale and hearty.

Here is another interesting article for EFT and I just had to publish it on my site. It gave relief to schizophrenic patient, from the stories I’ve read in the past there is no real cure for people that are schizophrenic.

But EFT gave him relief, thank god. If you like it, try EFT yourself, visit eft.com.

————————————————————————————

The Situation

I am a nutritional and energy therapist in London with training in EFT and another energy therapy (called Frontal Eminences which I learned from Applied Kinesiology). Although I don’t usually treat people with schizophrenia, I recently had the opportunity to help “Richard,” whom I have known for many years.

Richard lives alone in a different town from me so my session took most of one day with him. I concentrated on issues that he and his family said made it difficult for him to live in the community.

He has had paranoid schizophrenic symptoms for the last 17 years. In his late teens he saw a psychiatrist who gave him drugs for anxiety and ‘schizophrenic tendencies’. Subsequently his condition got worse and he developed deep paranoia and had some severe psychotic episodes over the next few years.

When I saw him he was agoraphobic and alcohol-dependent. Sometimes he could go outside alone but it was extremely frightening for him. Most days he could only leave his flat by taxi.

He was tormented every moment of the day by terrifying thoughts, voices in his head and memories of past abuse. Some of this was real and some was imagined.

When he does go outside, he shouts aggressively (which is frightening for other people). He has never intentionally hurt anyone but he has often smashed inanimate objects, including other people’s belongings.

He has been on various drug regimes since the early 1980s. Currently he is taking a benzodiazepine, a tricyclic anti-depressant and two neuroleptics, plus some procyclidine to manage the side-effects from the neuroleptics.

Important Note: There was no change in his medication from the time of our session through the 8 week followup that appears at the end of this article.

The Session

After talking generally to establish rapport, we discussed the feelings Richard gets when he shouts in the street. He said he feels ‘terrified, humiliated and fearful’ before he shouts. He expects someone to knife him but he has to shout because God requires it. He searches for the courage to do it and shouts loudly ’25 or 30 times’. He rated his emotional intensity for shouting at 10+.

We talked about the feelings that made him shout in the street and this helped me understand the aspects involved. Many of his ‘memories’ had not actually happened but he believed they had.

First, I used my other energy technique more globally on several aspects of his shouting in the street. This lowered his intensity to 6+. Then we talked about the remaining aspects wherein I learned that he felt very guilty for stabbing a child. I used the basic EFT formula with the 9 gamut procedure on this.

The set-up phrase we used was: ‘Even though I feel really bad because I stabbed a child, I believe God loves me anyway’.

It took ten minutes to find this phrase. He couldn’t say ‘I deeply and completely accept myself’ because not accepting himself is a big part of his problem. It was too painful to say’I know God loves me’. However, saying ‘I believe God loves me’ was okay because he said he wants to believe God loves him.

He needed prompting for each section of the phrase. He said it slightly different each time and added the ‘anyway’ onto the end.

After two rounds of EFT on ‘stabbing a child’, his intensity was down to 3+. He was exhausted and wanted to stop. After 15 minutes more of other meridian work on stabbing a child, his intensity came down to a 2+.

After 15 minutes, we did the ‘Floor to Ceiling’ technique, which brought his emotional intensity right down to 0. He said he felt cleansed and calmer but still exhausted. Then I did half an hour of other meridian work globally on his memory of being locked in a cupboard.

Finally, I gave him some nutritional advice and used another energy therapy on noises that made him perform obsessive compulsive rituals.

Richard’s illness makes it more complex to locate every aspect of a problem. Even so, I felt the session had gone very well. At the end, his intensity levels for everything we had dealt with were at 0. He felt his mind had been healed and he didn’t think he would have any more problems. Then he said ‘This result will hold up as long as I behave myself. If I don’t, it could go back to a 3’. This showed there were still some aspects to clear up.

Follow-Up:

After one week: Richard had been outside alone and had only needed to shout once or twice each time instead of the 25-30 times he did before. He was calmer and hadn’t had any psychotic episodes. He believed his mind had been healed. He sounded more positive and balanced than when I had spoken to him by phone before the session. Surprisingly, his agoraphobia had reduced a bit. (I’d decided not to treat this in the first session in case he went outside more often with some of his abusive behaviour still there).

After two weeks: he still seemed more balanced and more positive than before the treatment. He was looking forward to recovering from his illness and his plans were more practical and self-aware than I’d expected.

After three weeks: the agoraphobia (which I hadn’t treated) had come back but the other positive changes were still in place and he still believed his mind had been healed.

After eight weeks: the positive effects have stayed with him. There is a lot more work to do but after just one session he is calmer, more self-accepting and more in control of his life.

Francesca Hamon

The stress of returning to work on a Monday morning can initiate a dangerous increase in blood pressure, according to a Japan study. The Tokyo Women’s Medical University study shows blood pressure readings are higher than at any other time of the week. It may explain why deaths from heart attacks and strokes tend to reach their on a Monday morning. There are 20 % more heart attacks on Mondays than on any other day.

Heart disease is Britain ‘s biggest killer. Around 270,000 people suffer a heart attack every year and nearly one in three die before they even reach hospital.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, affects one in five people in the UK and is a major risk factor for heart disease. The higher it climbs, the greater the force exerted by blood on the walls of the arteries when the heart beats.

In some patients, it’s possible to get blood pressure readings down by switching to a healthier lifestyle. But hundreds of thousands more need a daily quota of pills to control it.

Measuring blood pressure can be difficult because it can vary from one day to the next.

Late nights and lie-ins

To see how it changed over the course of a week, scientists from Tokyo Women’s Medical University in Japan , studied 175 men and women with a device that would measure their blood pressure all day long.

A week later the recruits returned the devices so that researchers could assess how blood pressure had changed.

The results, published in the American Journal of Hypertension, showed a surge in readings in those getting ready to go back to work on a Monday morning.

Volunteers who stayed asleep did not experience an increase, which suggests work-related stress is most likely to blame.

“Most people are free of the mental and physical burdens of work on a Sunday and experience a more stressful change from weekend leisure activities to work activities on Mondays,” said Dr Shuogo Murakami, who led the research.

“There was a distinct peak on Mondays in this study.”

Professor Keith Fox, from the cardiovascular research unit at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, told BBC Online an early morning rise in blood pressure is probably a normal part of the body’s 24-hour rhythm and unlikely to be a problem for healthy people.

But he said: “If somebody already has cardiovascular disease then it might just tip them over the edge and trigger a heart attack.

He added that the return to early waking hours on a Monday morning, after a weekend of late nights and lie-ins, could explain the blood pressure surge.

“The increased risk of cardiac events in the early morning, such as heart attacks or strokes, is well-established.”

Morning peak

Belinda Linden, Head of Medical Information at the British Heart Foundation, said: “Weekly variations in the incidence of heart attacks and strokes, and in death rates, have been observed by various researchers over the last de

cade, who has found that Monday is the most likely day these events have occurred.

“A morning peak in blood pressure has also been noted by researchers in recent years.”

But she added: “This relatively small study looks at the weekly variations of blood pressure, and has found that Monday morning provides the highest peak.

“Although it is tempting to try and explain these findings, and to assume that the return to work is a factor, the constraints of this study mean we cannot be sure of the causes of this variation.

“The BHF believes it is important to try to understand any potential influences of peaks in blood pressure, but larger and better controlled studies are needed to help us do so.”

All living things monitor and respond to their environment. The purpose for the senses is to provide the central nervous system with sources of information about environment. When the environment is internal, and the intent is self observation or regulation, the monitoring is biofeedback. Technology allows monitoring of internal sources for nearly silent and invisible information and converts it to visual or auditory feedback to provide the user or subject a new basis upon which to act. As a result, autonomic functions can be moderated, as well as new therapies learned.

EEG

The electroencephalograph (EEG) was called a machine for charlatan when it was first innovated. Today, many MD offices have one, as it’s very useful in finding epilepsy, tumors in brain , and in determining brain death. However, few MD’s use it for biofeedback training, and even fewer are knowledgeable about this usage.

There are several different frequency bands of very small voltages come from the brain. Electrodes are placed on few spots on the head with a conductive gel or paste, and using very sensitive amplifiers, we can measure brain waves in frequency and amplitude.

Brain waves

There are several bands (named by early researchers), and each band is somewhat different from the other, depending on the state of mind of the subject. Because of individuality, these bands overlap to some extent, and the definitions of them may vary somewhat. These bands are:

Delta waves (0-3 Hz) are characterized by deep dreamless unmoving sleep.

Theta waves (4-7 Hz) are sometimes used to train subjects towards hypnotic and meditation trances. It has also been used for healing purposes.

Alpha waves (8-12 Hz) are produced when one is in a very relaxed state of mind. It is probably most recognized as that state reached while watching TV, in a meditation, or under hypnosis.

Beta waves (12-38 Hz) means that the brain is active. It is actually thinking. There are a few very important subdivisions of Beta. Low Beta, (12-16 Hz) is characterized by good steady thinking. The specific frequency band of 12-14 Hz is now more often called SMR (Sensi Motor Response), and is the focus of ADD/ADHD training. Low amplitude of brainwaves in this region is a symptom of ADD/ADHD (and many other emotional disorders that are helped or eliminated by biofeedback training in this range). It has been found by a very few researchers that biofeedback training above this range (higher beta) can sometimes increase symptoms of ADD/ADHD. These studies are controversial, however the system normally used inhibits these frequencies anyway.

There is also a gamma waves (above 40 Hz), but it’s not of interest to us in this training.

If you hook up anyone to a biofeedback machine, you can see the complex waveform coming from the brain, sort of like a repeating graph on a computer screen. This waveform can be filtered by electronic filters so that you can observe only a few of them. This allows training for the 12-14 Hz, and at the same time, keeping the HiBeta (20-38) low. This is all there is to it. The trainee sits at a computer, and concentrates on a screen, trying to raise one signal level while keeping the other low.

Ritalin and other drugs have side effects. It’s the same basic formula as the street drug “Speed”, and it is addictive.

There is some dispute as to whether the learning that takes place under biofeedback can be maintained once the feedback is removed. If the user is dependent upon external technology, then lack of the technology renders the learning unusable.

Auto-biofeedback

The technological tools of biofeedback are useful and doubtless in some cases irreplaceable, but not always essential. Our brain is set up with the feedback information we need to adjust our systems, if we will pay concentration to it. There are at least two levels of biofeedback accessible to the mind. The easiest is also the least lasting; it is sustained only for as long as it is attended to. The harder one has power that can be effective for hours or longer with only occasional attention.

The easiest biofeedbacks are mostly effective as a stepping-stone to the harder ones. They can serve by the fact that they give instant feedback on if you are doing it right or not. One such biofeedback is control over shivering. In cold weather, when you are shivering, think what it would feel like if the warmth of the sun were shining on your back, between your shoulder blades and your neck. Done correctly, you will immediately stop shivering, for as long as you imagine the warmth of the sun shining there. The reverse is also possible, if you are warm, you can make yourself shake by imagining what it would feel like if someone dropped snow down the back of your neck. A bit more useful, if you are subject to anxiety attacks, imagine what it would feel like if you drew an ice cube from the center of your lower lip, down your neck to your chest and stomach. Suddenly your heart is not racing, and you have control over yourself, from moment to moment at least.

The harder biofeedbacks are more difficult largely because they take longer to have an effect; where the easier ones are instant, the harder ones may take a quarter-hour to become noticeable. The likely reason for this is that you are altering your brain chemistry, rather than just your nervous system. The mind influences body chemistry through the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. The body affects the mind through a host of interactions, known and unknown. Our modern society creates stresses that we are ill equipped to deal with, the endless need to adapt to constantly changing demands of the physical and social environment creates stress.

One effect stress may produce is a higher blood pressure. This is open to change by relaxing the blood vessels. There are several images that will work. One is to imagine the heat on your hands that you feel when washing dishes in hot water by hand. Another is to imagine the sensation in hands that you get when taking a long walk on a hot day. The key element is imagining your hands being hot. It does not matter if you imagine it for one hand or two, if you sustain the image in your mind it will spread to both hands and feet. The image in your head spreads to adjacent nerves. In any case it will take a while before your bodily response is obvious. It is not necessary to concentrate constantly, merely to bring it to the front of your mind from time to time. Factors that can get in the way of success: a cold environment, fear, anger. Your body responds to cold by protecting your trunk at the expense of your extremities. Fear, anxiety and anger have a similar effect as your body prepares to reduce blood loss in an emergency.

Our society can disrupt emotional supports, resulting in depression. Antidepressant drugs can take a couple of weeks to take effect. Biofeedback, if you do it correctly, can take effect in about a quarter of an hour. There are two problems with this biofeedback: the sensations can be displeasing at first, and it takes you to look squarely at your problems, even if you can do nothing about them at the moment. It helps if you can manage the biofeedback in the prior paragraph before you try this one. If you imagine the feel of a ball just filling the palm of your hand and keep that feeling in mind, soon you will feel the same sensation in your other hand, followed by that sensation on the soles of your feet. Not too long afterwards the same perception will be noticeable in the groin area. Finally, you will notice that muscles in your neck are pulling your head up, below your shoulders the muscles in your back bring your shoulders down, and muscles near your tailbone tighten up, your calf muscles tighten up and change your stance. Other effects are a somewhat lower voice, your cheeks come up a bit, and your nose may be less congested, while the muscles around your lips relax. Coordination becomes smoother. Problems may occur getting to sleep unless you let this biofeedback start dying out several hours before bed. Failure to accept that a problem exists can prevent this biofeedback from working.

Likely there are other biofeedbacks useful by similar means, the question is what sensations an what locations might trigger them.

During biofeedback training, you gain understanding of your stressors, your interpretation of the stressors and your physiological response patterns. You can learn how to change your physiological responses from abnormal to normal, how to realize tension responses and how to erase symptoms. You will understand the importance of daily practice. If your dysfunctional patterns and symptoms come back, you will have the ability needed to recover control. Biofeedback does take time and attention, but the skills acquired are well worth the effort.

Ayurveda (pronounced I-your-vay-da) means – ayu-life, veda-knowledge of or ayurvedic medicine is a more than 6000 year old system of healing based on a holistic approach rooted in Indian Hinduism culture. Its conspicuous use of the word veda, or knowledge, reveals its role in early Hinduism and describes its hallowed place in India. VedaVyasa, the famous Indian sage, shaktavesha avatar of Vishnu, put into writing the complete knowledge of Ayurveda, along with the more directly spiritual insights of self realization into a body of scriptural literature called the Vedas and the Vedic literatures.

There were four main books of spirituality, which included among other topics, health, astrology, government, army, poetry and spiritual living and behavior. These books are known as the four Vedas; Rik, Sama, Yajur and Atharva.

The Rik Veda, is the oldest surviving book of any Indo-European language (3000 B.C.). The Rik Veda refers to the cosmology known as Sankhya which lies at the base of both Ayurveda and Yoga, contains verses on the nature of health and disease, pathogenesis and principles of treatment. Among the Rik Veda are found discussions of the three dosas, Pitta, Vayu and Kapha, and the use of different herbs to heal the diseases of the mind and body and to foster longevity.

The Vedic Sages took the passages from the Vedic Scriptures relating to Ayurveda and compiled separate books dealing only with Ayurveda. One of these books, called the Atreya Samhita is the oldest medical book in the world! The Vedic Brahmans were not just priests performing religious rites and ceremonies, they also became Vaidyas (doctors of Ayurveda).

The sage-physician- surgeons of the time were deeply devoted spiritual people, who saw health as an integral part of spiritual life. They received their training of Ayurveda through direct cognition during meditation. In other words, the knowledge of the use of various methods of healing, prevention, longevity and surgery came through Divine revelation; there were no experiments, tests or harming animals. These revelations were transcribed from the oral tradition into book form, interspersed with the other aspects of life and spirituality.

Ayurveda has employed certain toxic ingredients in very small dosages for their powerful healing effects, including its alchemical preparations. It also used various herbal and animal toxins like snake poisons etc. It has a whole science of toxicology called Agada-tantra as one of the eight branches of traditional Ayurveda. This branch not only treated poisons but used them in certain conditions, generally in very small dosages.

The Ayurvedic idea is that the organism adapts to the environment and its food, climate etc. This principle of adaptation is called satyma. Through introducing small amounts of a germ, poison the organism can adapt to it and learn to resist it.

There are two main re-organizers of Ayurveda whose works are still existing in tact today – Charak and Sushrut. The third major treatise is called the Ashtanga Hridaya, which is a concise version of the works of Charak and Sushrut. Thus the three main Ayurvedic texts that are still used today are the Charak Samhita (compilation of the oldest book Atreya Samhita), Sushrut Samhita and the Ashtangha Hridaya Samhita. These books are believed to be over 1,200 years old. It is because these texts still contain the original and complete knowledge of this Ayurvedic world medicine, that Ayurveda is known today as the only complete medical system still in existence. Other forms of medicine from various cultures, although parallel are missing parts of the original information.

Qualities

It could be said that the simple essence of ayurveda is knowledge and awareness of the qualities of nature – called gurvadi gunah. By understanding the qualities in the environment, in foodstuffs, in activities, one gains an appreciation of their effects on the individual constitution through the principle of similarities; i.e., that similarities cause increase while dissimilarities cause decrease. Thus hot qualities in the environment or diet will increase hot qualities in the body.

The gurvadi gunah are:

Guru (heavy) – laghu (light)

Manda (slow) – tikshna (quick, sharp)

Hima (cold) – ushna (hot)

Snigdha (unctuous) – ruksha (dry)

Slakshna (smooth) – khara (rough)

Sandra (solid) – drava (liquid)

Mrdu (soft) – kathina (hard)

Sthira (stable) – cala (mobile)

Sukshma (subtle) – sthula (gross)

Vishada (non-slimy) – picchila (slimy)

Since everything in the material world possesses combinations of the 20 qualities, ayurveda postulates that every material process or object can either harm or heal a person by influencing that person’s unique original constitution (called prakrti). An ayurvedic practitioner will assess the qualities of a disorder, the patient’s unique prakrti, and his/her influencing factors to arrive at a treatment plan. The treatment plan will consist of using herbs, therapies, diet, etc., with opposite qualities so as to assist the patient in re-establishing their prakrti.

The Five Elements

According to the ancient Sankhya theory of cosmology, on which ayurveda is based, the five elements combine in different proportions to form the material world. Each element possesses different amounts of the above-mentioned gunas; thus each element has its unique qualitative nature. The elements are:

Akasha – ether or space

Vayu – air

Tejas or agni – fire

Apa or jala – water

Prthvi – earth

Some authorities believe that the early European knowledge of five elements is a result of contact with ayurveda.
Doshas – ayurveda dosha test

The 3 main doshas are Vata (ether and air), Pitta (fire), and Kapha (water and earth).

All bodily processes are believed to be governed by a balance of these 3 doshas. Which dosha dominates a person’s behavior and physique is called his constitution type. Each constitution type has particular strengths and susceptibilities.

Vata

Vata, composed of air and space, governs all movement in the mind and body and must be kept in good balance. Too much vata leads to “worries, insomnia, cramps and constipation…. Vata controls blood flow, elimination of wastes, breathing and the movement of thoughts across the mind.” Vata activates the nervous system, hearing and speech; and expresses as enthusiasm and creativity. Vata also controls the other two principles, Pitta and Kapha, and is usually the first cause of disease.

Pitta

Pitta is said to be composed of fire and water; it governs “all heat, metabolism and transformation in the mind and body. It controls how we digest food, how we metabolize our sensory perceptions, and how we discriminate between right and wrong.” Pitta must be kept in balance, too. “Too much [Pitta] can lead to anger, criticism, ulcers, rashes and thinning hair.”

Kapha

Kapha consists of earth and water. “Kapha cements the elements in the body, providing the material for physical structure. This dosha maintains body resistance….Kapha lubricates the joints; provides moisture to the skin; helps to heal wounds; fills the spaces in the body; gives biological strength, vigor and stability; supports memory retention; gives energy to the heart and lungs and maintains immunity…Kapha is responsible for emotions of attachment, greed and long-standing envy; it is also expressed in tendencies toward calmness, forgiveness and love.” Too much Kapha leads to lethargy and weight gain, as well as congestion and allergies.

In sum, Ayurveda represents a system that considers both the states of mind and body in its diagnosis and treatment. Ayurveda took into consideration the fact that many illnesses are caused by foreign agents and small organisms that may require aggressive intervention.
Today

Today Ayurveda is making a slow comeback. In practice in India, there are Ayurvedic doctors who are purists and others who choose to use it in combination with Western medicine.

Ayurveda is gaining lots of interest in the Western countries. Ayurvedic treatments in the West are primarily dietary and herbal due to lack of well educated Ayurvedic practitioners. Patients are classified by body types, or prakriti, which are determined by proportions of the three doshas. Illness and disease are considered to be a matter of imbalance in the doshas. Treatment is aimed at restoring harmony or balance to the mind-body system.

Ayurvedic medicine is gaining in popularity around the world. There are a number of medical schools that teach Ayurveda.

Homeopathy is the essence of the art of healing. When homeopathy is well practiced, it is the medicine of choice to recover one’s health from the great majority of acute and chronic problems. The theory of homeopathy holds that every symptom induced by a toxic dosein a substance in a healthy person can be cured by a remedy prepared from that same substance—in Hahnemann’s own famous words: similia similibus curentur (“let like cure likes”). Two examples of substances used are sodium chloride (table salt), which is not terribly toxic and lachesis (the venom of the bushmaster snake), which is toxic. Underlying theory

There are 3 laws” that Dr. Hahnemann found out that form the basis of homeopathy:

similia similibus curentur—let like cure like, which means the law of similarity (explained further in this article);

the theory of infinitesimals—the more a substance is diluted (in a certain way), the more potent it becomes;

the theory of Psora, according to Hahnemann, 80 % of all chronic diseases are the result of suppressed psora (itch). It must be noted that even the most ardent proponents of homeopathy do not mention this particular law of Hahnemann.

The homeopathic concept of disease differs from concept of modern medicine, the root cause of disease in homeopathy is believed to be spiritual rather than physical, and a disease is thought to manifest itself first on emotional level (e.g. cravings, aversions, ) and if left untreated gradually progress to mental and finally physical symptoms. As the disease process is thought to begin long before any physical manifestations appear, it logically follows that homeopathy see bacteria and viruses as effects, not causes, of disease.

Homeopathic remedies

A Materia medica is a listing of symptoms associated with each of a number of substances, produced by “homeopathic proving”—i.e., the researcher imbibes a toxic dose of the substance on healthy human and records all physical, mental, emotional and modal symptoms experienced. A homeopathic repertory is a listing of remedies by symptom used to determine the most appropriate remedy for a given case. Kent’s Repertory is very important (published 1905) and lists over 700 different homeopathic remedies. Today, nearly 3000 different remedies are used in homeopathy, of which approximately 150 are used in most cases.

The preparation of homeopathic remedies, known as potentiziation, consists of successive dilutions followed by shaking in 10 hard strikes against an elastic body (usually the book cover) at each dilution stage. The vigorous agitation following each dilution is thought by believers in homeopathy to transfer some of the “spiritual essence or energy” of the substance to the water. The dilution factor at each stage is traditonally 1:10 (D potencies) or 1:100 (C potencies), though recently LM potencies (dilution factor 1:50,000 at each stage) have been used by some practitioners.

The choice of potency prescribed depends on how deep-seated a disease is diagnosed to be. Also different homeopaths use different potencies. Some may start with potency of 200 C, and some with 30 C or even D12 for example.

The dilution of homeopathic remedies

Homeopathy defines the potency of its remedies according to how diluted they are; the more diluted, the stronger it considers them. The process of dilution is called potentization. The potency is defined in terms of a number, where the higher the number, the higher the dilution. 30X, for example, is 10 20 times more diluted (and thus, according to homeopathy, more potent) than 10X. This is in contrast to conventional medicine and biochemistry, which hold that the effects of a substance are always due to its physical and biochemical activity in the patient’s body, and therefore that generally the more of an active ingredient is present in a drug, the more effect (whether positive, negative, or both) it will have.

Some supporters of homeopathy believe that while lower dilutions may have more effect on physical level of our body, higher dilutions may have a greater effect on the mental or emotional plane.

Much of the controversy surrounding homeopathy concerns the mechanism that would lie behind the alleged effectiveness of highly diluted substances. Critics of homeopathy argue that homeopathic substances are so diluted that there is not even one molecule of that substance in the diluted remedy, only water.

History of homeopathy

Homeopathy is a method of treating diseases and medical conditions invented by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843) in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and significantly refined as well as popularized by the American James Tyler Kent, M.D. It is based on the theory that each natural substance, plant or mineral will, when ingested or applied, result in certain symptoms. Hahnemann believed that, by diluting these substances in a standardized manner, one could reach the true essence of that substance. Hahnemann described this process of dilution as “potentizing” the substance. (German verb: potenzieren, from Potenz which means the English mathematical term “power”. Knowing this helps understanding the concept of homeopathic dilution; a D5 potency means that the active substance was diluted 100 times to the power of 5, i.e. 1:10’000’000’000). These dilute amounts could then be used to treat the very symptoms they were known to produce.

Hahnemann and his students approached their treatments in a holistic way, meaning that the whole of the body and spirit is dealt with, not just the disease itself. Hahnemann himself spent extended periods of time with his patients, asking them questions that dealt not only with their particular symptoms or illness, but also with the details of their daily lives. It is also suggested that the gentle approach of homeopathy was a reaction to the violent forms of medicine of the day, which included techniques such as bleeding as a matter of course.

According to homeopaths, conventional (or allopathic) medicine views symptoms as signs of illness (though some modern scientists would see this as an overly simplistic view). Modern treatments are intended to fight disease by targeting the pathogen causing the symptoms. According to homeopathic theory, symptoms are actually the body’s way of fighting disease. Homeopathy teaches that symptoms are to be encouraged, examined , by prescribing a remedy in minuscule doses that in large doses would produce the same symptoms seen in the patient. These remedies are intended to stimulate the immune system, helping to cure the illness.

Misconceptions about homeopathy

Many producers of homeopathic remedies also produce other types of alternative remedies, under the same brand name, which leaves the general public often confused about what homeopathy really is. A common misconception is that homeopathic remedies use only herbal components, but that is herb medicine. Homeopathy uses herbs and also non-biological substances (such as salts) and components of animal origin, such as snake venom, bugs(tarantula cub.), dog’s milk (remedy lac caninum). Homeopathy also uses substances of human origin, called nosodes (syphilinum, tuberculinum, psorinum). Another difference is that though both do use herbs, in herbology measurable amounts of the herb(s) are in the remedy, while in homeopathy it gets diluted beyond measurable quantities.

Since the term homeopathy is well known and has good marketing value, the public can be further confused by people who misuse the term, such as homeopathic dentists, homeopathic electro-acupuncturists etc. Classical homeopaths claim only remedies prepared in accordance with the laws and rules of Dr. Hahnemann can be called homeopathic.

Current status of homeopathy

Homeopathy has attracted practitioners for more than a century and a half, many of whom have put forth claims of evidence for its efficacy. Homeopathy is rejected as pseudoscience (functioning through the placebo effect) by the majority of the scientific and medical establishment in the United States and Western Europe. Nevertheless, there is a large market for homeopathic treatments in parts of Europe and in some other nations like India. Since January 1, 2004 in Germany homeopathic medications, with some exceptions, are no longer covered by health

Homeopathy in much of Europe is generally unregulated, so the skeptics can suggest that homeopathic practitioners could potentially cause more harm than good. In the United States, homeopathic remedies are subject to regulation by the Food and Drug Administration FDA. Although regulated, the FDA treats homeopathic drugs significantly differently from other drugs. Homeopathic drugs are not required to be approved by the FDA prior to sale, not required to prove either safety or effectiveness prior to being sold, not required to label their products with expiration dates, and not required to undergo finished product testing to verify contents and strength. Homeopathic drugs have their own imprints that, unlike conventional drugs, do not have to identify their active ingredients on the grounds that they have little or no active ingredients. In many other countries (like United Kingdom), homeopathic medicines are sold over the counter. In the United States only homeopathic medicines that claim to treat self-limiting conditions may be sold over the counter, while homeopathic medicines that claim to treat a serious disease can be sold only by prescription.

Proponents of conventional medicine charge that patients who rely fully on homeopathic techniques, denying any conventional medicine, are at risk of leaving some easily treatable diseases (such as some early skin cancers) until they become untreatable.

Proponents and opponents of homeopathy disagree over whether scientific controlled trials with the use of placebo effect have shown success with homeopathic methods. Some clinical trials have produced results supporting homeopathy, but critics contend that these trials are flawed. In 1997, The Lancet published a meta-analysis of 89 clinical trials, resulting in an ambiguous conclusion that served as fodder for both supporters and critics of homeopathy.

Aromatherapy is the use of plant oils, that are purified and properly prepared to affect someone’s health or mood. One of the best known essential oils for aromatherapy is lavender, which is recommended by practitioners for treating wounded parts of the body, to improve memory and to gain better sleep by combating anxiety and insomnia. Other popular scents include eucalyptus, rose and jasmine, basil, ylang. While there is no scientific proof that essential oils cure diseases, many people have found great success in their usage.

Some essential oils have been shown to have effects on the nervous system, other parts of the body, or even bacteria. Rosemary and ylang-ylang have opposite effects on alpha brain waves. Tea tree and leleshwa oils kill a wide variety of microbes, bacterias and sandalwood oil kills certain bacteria at lower concentrations. Plai oil (a sort of ginger) is useful for treating pains in joints.

Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

Country: Comoros Islands.
Usage: to improve mood, strengthen nerves, improve memory and mental clarity, for relieving headache and muscular spasms. Basil is very anti-infectious and antibiotic. Its main chemical composition includes: Eugenol, Cineol, Linalol, Phenol Methylchavicol, Camphor, and Pinene.
Emotions: for relieving indecision and doubts, lack of direction. Blends well with: bergamot, clary sage, citronella, and geranium. Basil should be avoided during pregnancy. It should not be used in baths and can cause irritation to skin.

Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)

Country: Italy.
Usage: balancing nervous system, relieving anxiety and stress, lifting melancholy, for restful sleep, antiviral, cold sores, psoriasis, eczema and as an insect repellent. Its main chemicals components are: D Limonene, Bergaptene, Linalol, and Linalyl Acetate.
Emotions: to relieve helplessness, hopelessness, emptiness and grief. Bergamot may cause skin sensitivity to bright sunlight. Bergaptene is the constituent which increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight.

Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora)

Country: China
Usage: Arthritis, bronchitis, colds, flus, infectious disease, aches and pains in muscles, acne, sprains, and coughs. Its main chemical components are: cineol, pinene, terpineol, and menthol.
Emotions: to relieve shock, fainting (as a smelling salt),and works as a stimulant. Only white camphor should be used in aromatherapy. It should only be used in very small amounts as it is an extremely strong oil. Avoid if pregnant, epileptic, or have high blood pressure.

Cardamon (Elettaria cardamomum)
